2010 GASTOWN MOTORCYCLE SHOW N’ SHINE WINNERS

The winners of Drag Specialties/Parts Canada's third and final round of their first annual “National Best in Show” Championship for registered bikes, as voted by the public are:

1st Ray Sasseville, Bike #169, 2009 Harley-Davidson Road Glide
2nd Denis Rochon, Bike #107, 1989 Harley-Davidson SS Rigid
3rd Bob McKinnon, Bike #137, 2006 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic

The 1st Place Winner of the “National Best in Show” Championship round 3 (Gastown) will join the winners of Round 1 (Atlanticade) and Round 2 (Port Dover) for a National “SHOW OFF”.

The three best bikes will be shown on the Drag Specialties/Parts Canada website at www.partscanada.com between September 1-30, 2010 where YOU will be able to log in and vote for YOUR favorite bike. The bike with the most votes will be named their “2010 National Best in Show” Champion and will win a set of tires, valued up to $500.

All proceeds from the ballots purchased at this event were donated to the Association for Injured Motorcyclists (AIM)- Vancouver.

If you would like to enter your bike in the show n' shine please contact us and we can email or fax you the registration form. It can also be found on-line here:

We will be accepting bike entries at the office until Friday, August 13th between 10am-5:00pm either in person or by phone with MasterCard or Visa. We will be closed on Saturday, August 14th but will continue to accept bike entries the morning of the show n' shine on Sunday, August 15th between 9:00AM-11:00AM on the corner of Abbott & Water (accessible through the barricade at Abbott & Cordova).

Limited space is available so pre-registration is recommended to guarantee a spot in the show. If you arrive after 11:00 AM you will not be allowed in the show, whether you are pre-registered or not.

There is a $20.00 fee to enter and proceeds support motorcycling in B.C.

There are trophies for 1st and 2nd place in 26 classes. Classes will be determined the day of the show based on what shows up. There will also be 3 specialty awards for Best Paint, Best Engineering and Best Bike.

All bike entries will be entered to win 1 of 2 $200.00 Dayton Boot Company gift certificates (www.daytonboots.com) and 1 ProRide Motorcycle Training (www.proride.net) gift certificate for an all inclusive "Survival Rider Course" valued at $838.00.

2010 Show Highlights

There will be displays by the following manufacturers at the 2010 Gastown Show n' Shine on Sunday, August 15th: BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Yamaha, Hit-Air, Big Bear Choppers, Johnny Pag, Drag Specialties, Parts Canada and Legare Wear.

Here are a few things you can expect to see....

BIG BEAR CHOPPERS/JOHNNY PAG
Will be bringing down a number of bikes to show off along with their show stopping V8 Bike, “Ezekiel,” that won several awards at last years show.

CANADIAN MOTORCYCLE DRAG RACING ASSOCIATION
This year the CMDRA will be handing out balloons for kids along with family passes to the Aug. 21-22 All Bike Drags and a free appy coupon for Mission Springs Brewing Company valid Aug. 20-22/10.


DRAG SPECIALTIES/PARTS CANADA
This year, they are hosting their first annual, “National Best in Show” championship, and Gastown will be Round 3, (their final round).

They will be at Gastown, selling ballots at 5/$1, 12/$2 and 30/$5 to the public to enter votes for the registered bikes they like the most.

The third place winner will receive a $100 Parts Canada Credit, 2nd Place will receive a $150. Parts Canada Credit and the 1st Place Winner will receive a $250. Parts Canada Credit.

The 1st Place Winner of the “National Best in Show” Championship round 3 (Gastown) will join the winners of Round 1 (Atlanticade) and Round 2 (Port Dover) for a National “SHOW OFF”. The three best bikes will be shown on their website www.partscanada.com and voters will log in to select their favorite bike. The bike with the most votes will be named our “2010 National Best is Show” champion and will win a set of tires, valued up to $500.

Registrations are free and are available by emailing me at laural@partscanada.com or at the Drag Specialties tent at the Gastown Show and Shine. Voters ballots will be available at the Drag Specialties tent at the Gastown Show and Shine.

All proceeds from the ballots will be donated to the Association for Injured Motorcyclists.


HARLEY-DAVIDSON
In the Harley-Davidson display this year they have confirmed that the Flying Swan Charity Calendar Girls will be doing Charity Calendar signings.

Bring the kids by for temporary tattoos and a photo op in a vintage side car unit from the Deeley Motorcycle Exhibition. Staff from the Grand Villa Casino will also be there promoting a contest they have starting in August where you can enter to win your very own Harley.


HIT-AIR
Hit-Air Japan has released new "airbag harness type" for this summer. It inflates within 0.25 seconds (I/O 0.50 seconds). Improved 0.25 seconds to activate the airbag system!

They will display those new products with vests and jackets at the show n' shine. They will also do a free demonstration for the new harness type and vest type of airbag and are planning to give away a new harness type MLV model (retail price $399.00) to the visitors at the show n' shine.


HONDA
This year Honda will have a number of bikes on display and demo rides.


LEGARE WEAR CLOTHING
Legare Wear will be featuring their "DURTI" Clothing line.


YAMAHA
The Yamaha Riding Academy is back again! This is a great opportunity to you as parents to introduce your kids, age 6-12, to the exciting world of off-road riding.

This is your chance to gear up your future MX superstars into the latest apparel and try out the exciting 2010 Yamaha off-road motorcycles. Parents must be present during sign up and instruction.


LIVE MUSIC
Cousin Harley will be playing up a storm on the stage right beside the old Steam Clock on Cambie and Water Street.


SHOW N' SHINE
Tons of unique bikes! Everything from custom to vintage to supermoto, trikes and scooters. You never know just what's gonna show up at this great celebration of motorcycling!
